Terms of Service

Last updated June 3, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Beacon governing your access to and use of Beacon. By signing in or using Beacon, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use Beacon.

1. Eligibility & authority

You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. If you use Beacon on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you’re authorized to accept these Terms for it, and “you” includes that organization.

2. What Beacon is

Beacon is a private, invite-only workspace operated by the Beacon team. We provide hosting, software, and support so your team can organize and act on its own data inside the workspace — turning candidate résumés into structured profiles, matched employers, and drafted, review-first outreach.

3. Your account

  • You may only sign in with an email address that has been invited or approved by an administrator.
  • Keep your sign-in code private. You’re responsible for activity under your account.
  • Tell us right away if you believe your account has been accessed without permission: hello@beacon.careers.

4. Subscription & fees

  • Beacon is a paid subscription — currently $99 per recruiter per month, with a 14-day free trial.
  • Starting a trial requires a valid payment method. We don’t charge during the trial; unless you cancel before it ends, the subscription automatically converts to paid and renews monthly.
  • You can manage or cancel anytime from the in-app billing page. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current period; we don’t provide pro-rated refunds for partial periods unless required by law.
  • Fees are exclusive of taxes; you’re responsible for any applicable taxes. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe — we don’t store full card numbers.
  • We may change fees with at least 30 days’ notice before a new billing period. Founding members on a complimentary plan are identified as such in-app.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Beacon to:

  • Break the law, including any law about privacy, communications, marketing, employment, or intellectual property.
  • Send spam, harass anyone, or impersonate another person or organization.
  • Probe, scan, or load-test the system without our written permission.
  • Reverse-engineer, copy, resell, or build a competing product from the software.
  • Upload content you do not have the right to use, or interfere with other customers’ use of the service.

6. Our software & intellectual property

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Beacon for your internal business purposes while these Terms are in effect. We and our licensors keep all rights, title, and interest in the Beacon software, design, and brand. These Terms don’t transfer any of our intellectual property to you.

7. Your content

Whatever you bring into Beacon — files, notes, contacts, drafts, messages — stays yours. We claim no ownership over it. You grant us a non-exclusive, internal license to host, process, transmit, and display it solely as needed to provide the service to you and your team.

8. Outbound communications

Beacon can draft and queue outbound messages on your behalf (email, social, etc.). You are responsible for their contents and for your compliance with applicable anti-spam, marketing-consent, and broadcast-communication laws (including, where applicable, the CAN-SPAM Act, the TCPA, GDPR, and local equivalents). Nothing sends without your review.

9. Data processing & your responsibilities

For the candidate and contact data you bring into Beacon, you are the data controller and Beacon acts as your processor — we process that data only to provide the service to you, under these Terms and our Privacy Policy (which lists the sub-processors we rely on). You are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and contact the people whose data you add, and for honoring their rights and opt-outs — Beacon enforces confirmed opt-outs and suppression at send time to help. A data-processing addendum (DPA) is available on request at hello@beacon.careers.

10. Third-party services

Beacon integrates with third-party providers (listed in our Privacy Policy). When you use those integrations, their terms apply alongside these. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their behavior beyond choosing them carefully.

11. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Beacon from third-party claims, damages, and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your content, the contact data you bring in, the outreach you send, or your breach of these Terms or of applicable law.

12. Termination

  • You can stop using Beacon at any time. Email hello@beacon.careers to close an account.
  • We can suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, or if we’re required to by law. Where reasonable we’ll warn you first.
  • On termination we’ll provide a reasonable export window before deleting your data, unless legally prohibited. Provisions that by their nature should survive — content ownership, indemnification, warranty disclaimers, and liability limits — survive termination.

13. No warranty

Beacon is provided “as is.” We work to keep it available, accurate, and secure, but we don’t promise it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for any specific purpose, and we don’t guarantee any particular recruiting outcome. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties.

14. Limit of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim related to Beacon is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US $100, whichever is greater. We’re not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, or special damages, or for lost profits or data.

15. Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions about Beacon, we may use them without restriction or any obligation to you.

16. General

  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
  • Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about Beacon and supersede prior discussions.
  • Severability & waiver. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect; not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver of it.
  • Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
  • Notices. We’ll send notices to your account email or post them in-app; you can reach us at hello@beacon.careers.

17. Changes

We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we’ll give your administrator at least 14 days’ notice before it takes effect. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Hillsborough County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
